Jim has played the leading role in strengthening our town’s infrastructure by pushing forward essential upgrades to our water, sewer and public facilities. One of the most important and defining aspects of Jim’s recent leadership has been his strong stance against the MBTA Communities Act.  While some sort to quickly comply with state’s zoning mandates, Jim stood firmly with the people of Winthrop.  He understands that decisions about how our town grows and develops should be made by us, not handed down by Beacon Hill without meaningful local input.  His leadership on this issue has been clear, consistent, and courageous, focused on protecting Winthrop’s character, preserving our neighborhoods, and ensuring that any future growth reflects our values and priorities.

In every role he has held, Jim remained accessible and responsive.
